EAST ORLANDO, FL – An SUV driver was hurt after she ran a red light while trying to turn left at a junction, prompting another motorist to crash into the back of her car before fleeing the scene Sunday.
The collision took place around 11 a.m. at the South Chickasaw Trail and SR 408 intersection, WESH reported. When the other driver struck the SUV, it led the SUV driver to hit a curb and guardrail. Then the SUV overturned and caught fire.
The SUV driver – a 71-year-old woman from Haines City – was trapped inside the vehicle but able to get out thanks to aid from good samaritans. Medics then took her to a hospital for critical life-threatening injuries.
The other vehicle was described as a white sedan with damage to the front headlight on its left side. As of this writing, the hit-and-run suspect has not been found.
