ORLANDO, FL – A man and a woman were hospitalized after getting hit by a car while riding their bicycles Sunday.
The collision occurred at Conroy Windermere Road and Doctor Phillips Boulevard, according to Click Orlando.
Vehicles stopped at the red light at the intersection, and at the same time, the cyclists rode past those cars on the marked crosswalk.
One car, however, a suspected white 2009 four-door Toyota Corolla, ran a red light, hitting the woman in the process. She fell to the ground. The man tried to avoid hitting her but swerved and also fell.
The cyclists were identified as a married couple, Brad and Sheryl Elliot. Both did not wear helmets at the time of the collision. Brad sustained unspecified injuries, while Sheryl suffered injuries to her face, arms, and knees and vision loss.
Brad appears to be in stable condition, while Sheryl’s current state is unknown.
