Lake County hit-and-run leaves pedestrian dead, another injured

LAKE COUNTY, FL – One person was killed and another injured after a hit-and-run driver struck two pedestrians in Lake County on Saturday.

According to WFTV, the accident occurred at the intersection of Rolling Acres Road and West Lakeview Street shortly before 10 p.m. on Saturday night.

The two victims were walking on the shoulder when a northbound vehicle suddenly veered off the road and struck both of them.

One victim, a 40-year-old woman, died at the scene. A 32-year-old man sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to the hospital.

The driver fled the scene. Police believe they were driving a Jeep Cherokee. It is not clear why they left the road.
